How to explore film schools

Use the directory to narrow your search by the part of filmmaking you want to study. A dedicated craft page can help you identify the kinds of schools, workshops and training providers that may fit your research.

Start with your discipline

Choose directing, cinematography, acting, screenwriting, editing, sound and music, or production. If you want broad training, begin with the Film Schools index.

Compare the format

When researching a school, consider whether its program is a full-time course, specialist workshop, practical academy or other educational format. Review the provider's own current information before applying.

Build your shortlist

Keep notes on curriculum, practical work, facilities, location, duration, entry requirements and costs. The directory is a starting point for discovery rather than a substitute for checking official school information.
